The Employee Assistance Navigator acts as an advocate and confidential resource within Human Resources for faculty and staff seeking information and guidance on both work-related benefits and external resources that may be available to assist them with a variety of professional and personal needs such as housing, transportation, and general economic instability. The position advocates for employee needs and leverages skills in social work and/or case management to assist employees in navigating complex processes such as benefits access, referrals to internal and external support services, and applying for leaves and reasonable accommodations. The position also serves as a liaison between the various offices within Human Resources to facilitate timely and coordinated interventions.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Manages a diverse caseload from intake to resolution, ensuring timely follow-up, detailed documentation, and compliant tracking.
2. Triages and escalates high-risk cases appropriately, exercising professional judgment.
3. Provides guidance, practical information, and resources to employees experiencing socio-economic hardships (e.g., housing, food insecurity, transportation).
4. Educates employees on University benefit offerings, leave of absence policies (FMLA, ADA), and reasonable accommodations processes.
5. Connects employees and assists with applications for leaves of absence, disability claims, accommodations, and internal assistance programs (e.g., FSAP, mental health, financial wellness).
6. Collaborates with HR partners, supervisors, department leaders, and external vendors to develop individualized support plans.
7. Researches and maintains up-to-date knowledge of campus and community resources to provide informed referrals.
8. Partners with third-party vendors and program administrators to streamline access to care and services.
9. Designs and delivers workshops, presentations, and communication campaigns to raise awareness of employee benefits and support services.
10. Develops clear, accessible materials and guides to help employees understand and navigate available resources.
11. Monitors trends in employee feedback, utilization, and emerging needs to inform program enhancements.
12. Collaborates with HR leadership to recommend policy or program improvements that support employee engagement and retention.
13. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
